Our story

Where It All Started

Before VanB Enterprises, “hearing aid sweat band” wasn’t a phrase anyone used. It didn’t exist.

Wearers of behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids had two options during a workout, a humid afternoon, or a day of yard work: risk moisture damage and particulate infiltration inside their hearing aids, or take the devices out and lose their hearing while they worked or played.

We didn’t think that was a fair trade-off. So we built something new.

It took years of design, testing, and reworking to land on a fabric and design that could actually protect a BTE hearing aid from sweat and moisture — without impeding sound travel or sealing it inside a waterproof shell that traps damage in just as fast as it keeps damage out. Once the product met our intended performance, it needed a name. We picked the simplest, most honest one we could think of: the Hearing Aid Sweat Band. At the time, those two words had never been paired together in the hearing aid industry or related in any way to a hearing aid. Now you’ll see them everywhere. That’s because it started here.

VanB Enterprises has been in the hearing aid protection business since 1996. Three decades later, we’re still the original manufacturer, and still focused on the one product we set out to perfect.

The fabric

Fabric That Works With Your Hearing Aid, Not Against It

Most covers fall into one of two camps. Spandex lets moisture pass right through, offering little real protection. Silicone and latex go the other way, sealing moisture in like a raincoat and making things worse.

Our fabric does neither. It’s engineered to shed moisture on contact, then absorb whatever it doesn’t shed and release it through evaporation. Your hearing aid stays dry. Moisture doesn’t sit and linger against the device.

It’s also hypoallergenic, soft, and comfortable enough to wear all day without irritation. Beyond sweat, it blocks dust, dirt, grime, wind noise, and everyday exposure to hair spray and styling products. (One exception: don’t wear your hearing aid in the shower or while washing your hair, cover or no cover.)

Sound quality

You Won’t Notice a Drop in Sound Quality

The biggest initial objection to any hearing aid cover is simple: does it mess with sound? Independent testing puts the dampening from our fabric at 1.5–2 dB. Most wearers never notice it in daily use. You get real protection against sweat, dust, and wind without giving up the clarity you depend on.

We weren’t in the market long before the first imitation showed up — a product called Super Seals, which no longer exists. Others followed, some borrowing our claims and our exact wording.
